It has been announced that, the club fees paid to licensed football agents by professional clubs in the English Football league between 1st July 2009 and the 30th June 2010 almost doubled on the previous year.

The increase on the total fees paid to licensed agents by clubs increased by £4 million on the previous season this was despite 1400 fewer deals being completed.

A summary of the facts and figures for the period of the 1st July 2009 to the 30th June 2010 for the 72 Football League clubs, were as follows :

  • £12,739,867 spent by clubs on licensed football agents
  • A £3,930,355 increase on the same figure for the previous year (approximately £8.8million)
  • 2392 ‘completed’ deals with licensed agents, as part of the total fees paid
  • 396 deals completed, where clubs used licensed agents (229 in the previous year)
  • 14 clubs DID NOT employ the services of agents (less than the 19 in the previous year)
